How do you know what care or service I will need?

When you first contact Bury Home Care, we will arrange a date to come and visit you at your home, at no cost to assess your needs, and find out what is important to you that we can put into place the right level of help and support. This could be as little as a couple of hours per week through to round-the-clock care, as per your individual requirements and wishes. Where possible, we will promote and enable you to maintain your independence.

Bury Home Care caters for people of all ages, who may have different disabilities, illnesses, difficulties, or may even just need some support because of old-age. Our services are individually tailored; don’t worry if you feel that your needs or requirements may change over time – we are very versatile, and thus can adapt the services you receive, thereby ensuring that they meet your individual needs.

Who pays for the care and how much do you charge?

This very much depends on when you require care, how many carers, and for how long you will require the care services per day, or per week. Bury Home Care commits to 1-hour visits, with 2-hours as a minimum for a companionship visit. If you are not entirely sure about all of this, we will be able to help you and provide our most accurate rate verbally and in writing. We have tried to make payments convenient and easy to process, and have a number of options for you to settle your fees. we will provide you with the relevant details and arrange the necessary paper-work on your behalf.

Some care can be funded from the Local Authority or the NHS, this is means tested and can fully or partially fund your care requirements. There are several benefits available, including Attendance Allowance and Carer’s Allowance. Attendance Allowance is for anyone aged 65 or over who needs support with personal care. It isn’t means-tested and is based purely on your needs. Carer’s Allowance is available for people who spend more than 35 hours a week caring for someone else.

Whether you pay privately, have funding from the Local Authority or NHS, we can support you with whatever you need.

If you would like more information, please visit http://www.ageuk.org.uk/money-matters/claiming-benefits/ as this website provides very useful guidance on benefits.

Do you provide 15-minute visits?

Bury Home Care don’t provide 15-minute calls for lots of different reasons and under guidelines published by the National Institute of Clinical Evidence (NICE), drops-ins should only be considered in certain cases such as checking if someone has taken medication. However; if the visit is mainly to check-up, make a drink or to assist with medication at specific times of the day we can agree a 30-minute call.

Do you provide care during Public / Bank Holidays, and during the weekend?

Yes, we are able to provide a service 365 days a year; 24 hours a day and are in the process of providing an out of hours emergency on-call service for clients and their relatives.

Are your staff trained and police checked?

Yes, all of our staff will be trained to very high standards and working towards QCF Care qualifications (or already have achieved this). They will have a full interview to assess personality, experience, hobbies, written and spoken English. They are also subject to verified references, a background check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), which includes checks of police records, before starting work with our clients. Our staff are compassionate, dedicated and work hard to provide a quality service; they will be regularly reviewed to ensure quality.

We are confident that you can trust them and that you will be very safe in their hands. Furthermore, they are expected to carry a personal identification (ID) with them during all visits, which contains their name, a passport-style photograph of them, and other details. You can request that they show you this ID card when they visit you.

My mother is coming home from hospital tomorrow, when can you start?

We will always carefully consider our capacity to support you to ensure we are neither compromising our new commitment to you or the care we provide to other clients. Bury Home Care understands just how important it is to get personal care absolutely right and if we are unable to fully meet your needs, we will be honest. Bury Home Care believe that clients are always our top priority and you will never be let down.

I have a vulnerable relative at home whilst I attend an engagement. Can you help? Can you take me to hospital appointments?

Yes, we will always do our best to accommodate any extra visits you need for one-off appointments, whether this is a hospital appointment or simply a visit to the shops or hairdressers!

Bury Home Care offers a sit-in service. So, whether you are looking for a short-term sit-in service, or a long-term sit-in service (if you have to go abroad or elsewhere, and may not be back for a longer period of time), please contact us. I'm deciding between home care and a care home. Which option is best for me?

For many people, home care is a great alternative to a care home and some of the advantages of home care include: –

  • You get to live in the comfort of your own home. This is a familiar environment, which means that you do not need to spend as much time getting used to a new environment, and hence causes less stress and hassle.
  • As it is a familiar environment, you get to stay close to your usual facilities and may therefore even get to see and stay in contact with friends, family and your local community.
  • You get more control over what care services you receive, when you receive them, and how much you receive, in accordance with your needs and wishes. Home care is very flexible, and we can tailor our services to your individual needs.
  • Home care can often can be considerably cheaper than staying in a care home.
  • You can often continue to live with not only family, but also any pets you may have meaning that you don’t have to give them up which may otherwise cause a great deal of stress and upset.
  • Promotes independence, freedom and autonomy.
  • Home care is a great alternative to institutional living.
